President
Jane Ruckert
Jane is the principal diving officer at the University of Tasmania. She is an experienced scientific diver and currently working on completing her Honours degree in Marine and Antarctic Studies. Jane holds instructor ratings with TDI, SDI and is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with 5 years’ experience in diver training teaching a wide range of specialities. Jane is a passionate advocate for the Tasmanian recreational diving scene and is incredibly generous with her time in helping people enjoy our sport.
Vice President
Bec Tite
Bec is an accomplished research and logistics manager with extensive experience across diverse disciplines, specializing in marine and remote area research, as well as infrastructure management and operations. Currently, she works as a Marine Parks Ranger and Local Dive Officer for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service in the Far North Management Unit, where she plays a crucial role in the management and conservation actions within the Great Barrier Reef and the Torres Straits. A passionate diver since 2007, Bec holds certifications as an ADAS Supervisor and SSI Dive Instructor, and is also an enthusiastic freediver.
Secretary
Gwenael Cadiou
Gwenael is an aquatic ecologist with experience gained in Europe and Australia. He is currently a Fisheries Scientist at the Department Regional NSW. Gwen has 25 years of scientific and occupational diving experience conducting diverse marine and freshwater surveys, sampling and monitoring.
Treasurer
Rochelle Johnston
Rochelle is a Marine Ecologist with a strong focus in scientific diving. Having worked internationally on many coral and turtle conservation projects, she is now the Diving and Boating Officer at the University of New South Wales. Rochelle is the Scientific Diving representative for the Australian Marine Sciences Association and a member of the Standards Australia Scientific Diving Committee
Media Officer
Tess Hoinville
Tess Hoinville is a Marine Scientist, and has a wealth of marine experience including occupational diving in both recreational and scientific sectors. She is Deakin University's Marine Technical Services Coordinator and spends any spare time taking photos underwater or conducting citizen science using Reef Life Surveys.
General Executive Member
Jonathan Stevenson
Jono is currently the Field Dive Officer with the British Antarctic Survey, coordinating the science diving program at Rothera Station. Previously, he spent 25 years protecting Victoria's Marine Parks while working for Parks Victoria, coordinating seagrass monitoring, over abundant urchin control and marine surveys projects. He has a M.Sc. from the University of Adelaide, and B.Sc (Hons) at The University of Melbourne in marine ecology. He is a PADI Diving Instructor, ADAS Diver and, when not diving, is frequently distracted by birds.
